Centered around classically trained vocalist and guitarist Laura Weinbach, Foxtails Brigade is a chamber-pop quartet that feel contemporary and new. Weinbach uses her siren-call of a voice to tell off-kilter stories exploring themes of death, fear, and anxiety. The lack of a drummer takes some getting used to, but Foxtails Brigade pluck guitars, violins, and the upright bass in order to fill the void. A com- plex chirping of stringed instruments that sometimes feel grandiose and other times adds to the sense of foreboding that is one of Weinbach’s compelling if concerting touchstones.
