My favorite description of PreTeen so far is “slop pop.” That just nails it. The San Francisco group writes slim and easy pop songs and then drowns them in a sea of fuzz and reverb. The result is a decidedly lo-fi expression of catchy little tunes that draw you in and crash over you like a slow moving swell of midnight surf. PreTeen’s debut EP, Keep It Nice, has plenty of jangle and jam to it, but the group’s sweetly innocuous songs capture your heart with their mellow and perfectly muddled movements.
