Talkdemonic is an avant-instrumental duo that cre- ates a sweeping sonic pastiche of strings, breakbeats and samples where you would least expect them. Formed by percussionist Kevin O’Connor in 2004 as a vehicle for his love of instrumental experimenta- tion, he was soon joined by violist Lisa Molinario. Their fourth and latest album, Ruins, has been released on Isaac Brock’s Glacial Pace Recordings and the pair recently toured with Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips. Ruins is a hothouse of sorts–a con- trolled orchestral environment where plucked banjos and sparkling rushes of feedback are cultivated with equal intensity.
